Chicago motorists — the calendar says it’s time to watch where you park overnight. The city’s overnight parking ban begins Tuesday.
Covering 107 miles of city streets considered “critical arterial streets,” the ban means no parking on those streets from 3 to 7 a.m.
The streets affected include:
– 103rd Street from Pulaski Road to Torrence Avenue.
– 79th Street from Cicero Avenue to South Shore Drive.
– Cottage Grove Avenue from 103rd Street to Midway Plaisance.
– Kedzie Avenue from 87th Street to North Avenue.
– 106th Street from Torrence Avenue to State Line Road.
– Torrence Avenue from 103rd Street to 106th Street.
– Midway Plaisance from Cottage Grove to Dorchester Avenue.
– Payne Drive from Midway Plaisance to Morgan Drive.
– Dr. M L King Drive from Garfield Blvd to Cermak Road.
– Cermak Road from Dr. M L King Drive to State Street.
– State Street from Cermak Road to Congress Parkway.
– Archer Avenue from Harlem Av to State Street.
– Madison Street from Austin Bv to Des Plaines Street.
– Central Avenue from Harrison Street to Bryn Mawr Avenue.
– Division Street from Austin Bv to La Salle Street.
– Kedzie Avenue from Bryn Mawr Avenue to Irving Park Road.
– Milwaukee Av from Lake Street to Central Avenue.
– Foster Avenue from Clark Street to Kennedy Expressway.
– Clark Street from Devon Avenue to Howard Street.
– West side of Cannon Drive from Fullerton Parkway to Diversey Parkway.
– Devon Av from Clark Street to Sheridan Road.
– Garfield Blvd from Morgan Street to Ellsworth Road.
– Kedzie Avenue from Moffat Street to Milwaukee Avenue.
The ban ends April 1.
The ticket is $50 ticket plus a $150 towing fee and $10 a day for storage at the impound lot.
The Sun Times reports that Chicago also has 500 miles of “snow routes,” where parking is banned if two or more inches of snow falls, regardless of the time.
Violators are ticketed and cars relocated.
