The Parking Ticket Geek offers a few tips for navigating traffic as the Labor Day weekend hits its mid-point.
Taking advice from one of our favorite traffic reporters — WBBM-AM’s Joe Collins – the Geek suggests to avoid traveling on the expressways on Monday after 2 p.m., and to stay clear until 8 or 9 p.m.
“I always encourage having a nice long dinner just outside the city, before the traffic backups and then hitting the road just in time to miss all the hellacious traffic.”
The Geek also runs down the impact of Oprah’s Michigan Avenue closure beginning at 12:01 a.m. Monday.
And Chicagosphere has a good post for what this closure means to CTA commuters, who will find every major North Side CTA bus route detoured onto alternate streets where the extra traffic congestion will further impact other North Side CTA bus routes.
