Northbound Cicero closed through Sunday for railroad repairs

Motorists should expect delays through Sunday along Cicero Avenue at the Stevenson Expressway due to railroad crossing repairs, the Illinois Department of Transportation said in a news release.

Canadian National Railroad crews will be repairing and replacing an at-grade crossing in the area, and motorists should expect heavy congestion along other routes in the towns of Berwyn, Cicero and Stickney.

On Nov. 2, workers closed northbound Cicero Avenue between the Stevenson Expressway and 39th Street.

Northbound traffic was detoured at 47th Street, west to Central Avenue, north to 39th Street, then east to Cicero Avenue.

Work is scheduled to be complete by Nov. 8, depending on weather.
